Mount Nemrut---Nemrut Dagi
Doğu ve Batı Medeniyetlerinin, 2150 m. yükseklikte muhteşem bir piramitteki kesişme noktası, Dünyanın sekizinci harikası Nemrut, Yüksekliği on metreyi bulan büyüleyici heykelleri, metrelerce uzunluktaki kitabeleriyle, UNESCO Dünya Kültür Mirasında yer almaktadır.
Nemrut Dağı, üzerinde barındırdığı dev heykellerin ve anıt mezarın yanı sıra, dünyanın en muhteşem gündoğumu ve gün batışının seyredilebildiği yer olmasıyla da ilgi çekmektedir. Her yıl binlerce insan gündoğumu ve gün batışını seyretmek için Nemrut Dağına gelmektedir.
UNESCO tarafından Dünya Kültür Mirası olarak ilan edilen Nemrut Dağı, çevresindeki Kommagene Uygarlığı eserleri ile birlikte ülkenin önemli Milli Parklarından biridir. Nemrut Dağındaki dev heykeller ve tümülüs, Arsameia (Eski Kale), Yeni Kale, Karakuş Tepesi ve Cendere Köprüsü Milli Park sınırları içerisinde yer alıyor.
At the junction of the East and West civilisations, Nemrut Dagi (Mount Nemrut) is one of the most astounding sites in Turkey: A collection of colossal statues on a remote mountain 2150m high, adorning the temple and tomb of King Antiochus. Unknown until 1881 when an Ottoman geologist discovered these 10 metre-high stone heads, archaeological work began in 1953 to uncover their history.
Nemrut Dag has since been a significant attraction, with thousands sunrise and sunset visitors to see the stones in the best possible light. It has been designated a World Cultural Heritage site by UNESCO, and is one of the most important National Parks in the country. In addition to the statues, the entire site includes art from the Commagene civilisation, the Eskikale (Old Castle), Yenikale (New Castle), Karakus Hill and Cendere Bridge. Most people use the nearby towns of Malatya, Kahta or Ad?yaman as a base, and the road to the summit is only open from mid-April to mid-October because of heavy snow the rest of the year.
how to get there,
by road
Because of its remote location, there are many private bus tours operating from the nearby towns of Malatya (100km), Adiyaman (80km) and Kahta (43km), all of which are well connected with the rest of Turkey. The road approaching the summit is very steep and rough and not easy to drive, so most people prefer to take an organised bus tour which will visit the site in a day trip, or perhaps an overnight to see the ruins at sunset/sunrise.
By Air
The nearest domestic airports to the site are at Malatya and sanliurfa, from where buses can be arranged.
Adıyaman il sınırları içinde yer alan Nemrut Dağına Adıyaman'dan olduğu gibi Malatya'dan da ulaşılabiliyor. Malatya yönünden gelen araçlar dağın zirvesine daha yakın bölümüne kadar çıkabiliyor ve yolcular daha az yürüyerek zirveye ulaşabiliyorlar. Dağ gündüz ve gece iki farklı iklimi yaşadığı için ziyaretçilerin mutlaka takviyeli giyinmeleri gerekiyor....
